What is Alchemiq Desk?

Alchemiq Desk is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI assistants real-time access to the Alchemiq intelligence engine. It continuously indexes articles from thousands of publishers worldwide, clusters them into stories, and provides structured access to emerging coverage, source articles, AI-generated briefs, and multilingual translation.

Every response includes structured output with formal schemas, direct links to full coverage on the Alchemiq platform, and suggested follow-up actions.

Alchemiq Desk exposes five tools that AI assistants can call through the MCP protocol. Expand each tool below to see its parameters, filters, and return values.

Search the Alchemiq news index for stories matching a natural-language query

Load full details for a single news story including source articles, coverage stats, and claims

Generate an AI-written news brief from a story

Translate a brief or any text into another language

Multi-turn conversational news assistant with automatic state management

Supported Languages

Alchemiq indexes articles in multiple languages. You can filter results by language or translate briefs into:

Getting Started

Alchemiq Desk is not yet listed on the ChatGPT or Claude public stores. To connect now, follow the Developer Mode Setup instructions below.

Once available in stores

When Alchemiq Desk is published to the public directories, you'll be able to connect with these steps:

In ChatGPT

Go to ChatGPT Settings > Connected Apps
Search for "Alchemiq Desk"
Click Connect and authorize with your Alchemiq account
Ask: "What's trending in the news today? Use Alchemiq Desk."

In Claude

Go to Claude Settings > Connectors
Add Alchemiq Desk from the directory
Authorize with your Alchemiq account
Ask: "Show me today's top news stories using Alchemiq Desk"

Developer Mode Setup

Since Alchemiq Desk is not yet listed on the public app stores, you can connect using developer mode on each platform. This gives you full access to all tools while the store listing is pending.

ChatGPT (Developer Mode)

Available on ChatGPT Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise, and Education plans.

Open ChatGPT and go to Settings > Apps
Scroll down to "Advanced settings" and toggle Developer Mode on
Click "Create app"
Enter the server name (e.g. "Alchemiq Desk") and the server URL:

Open a new chat, click the "+" icon in the compose area, go to More > Developer mode, and toggle Alchemiq Desk on
Ask: "What's trending in the news today? Use Alchemiq Desk."
ChatGPT will prompt you to authorize with your Alchemiq account on first use

Claude (Web & Desktop)

Go to Settings > Connectors
Click "Add MCP server" and paste the server URL:

Claude Code (CLI)

Install directly from the Alchemiq repository:

Claude Code will prompt you to authorize with your Alchemiq account on first use.

Gemini (Gemini CLI)

Install the extension from the Alchemiq repository:

The extension registers the MCP server automatically. Run /extensions list inside Gemini to verify.

Any Other MCP Client

Point your client at the MCP server URL. Transport is HTTP (streamable), authentication is OAuth 2.0 — your client will be redirected on first tool call.
